Programme
Day 1. Arrival in hotel in Rieti, check-in and lunch. Meeting with our representative for the presentation of the programme and the distribution of the "Credentials", a guided visit of the Cathedral and historical centre of Rieti. Dinner in hotel and overnight stay.
Day 2. Buffet breakfast; then walking itinerary (then on by bus) between Faggio di San Francesco-Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Foresta (22km.); packed lunch along the way; guided visit of the Poggio Bustone sanctuary, of the village of Cantalice and the Sanctuary of theForesta, Possibility to visit the Scared Cave (only on foot, approximately 2km).Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3.Buffet breakfast then walking itinerary ( then on by bus) from Rieti to the Greccio Sanctuary (20km) packed lunch along the way; guided visit to the Fonte Colombo Sanctuary; the village of Contigliano and the Greccio Sanctuary. Return to hotel for the presentation of the “Pilgrims Certificate”. Dinner and overnight stay. Day 4. Buffet breakfast followed by visit with guide to the Marmore Falls or other programme to be agreed. Lunch and end of services.

Extra day
Walking itinerary from the Poggio Bustone Sanctuary to the Temple of St. Francis on Mount Terminillo or vice versa (17.5 km with no possibility to stop); buffet breakfast; packed lunch; dinner and overnight stay.
Services Included
3 nights in hotel in Rieti with half-board on 1st day, packed lunch on 2nd &3rd day, final lunch with typical menu, adequate water and wine; guided visits as programme and entrance fees where necessary; Welcome kit, assistance throughout of our representative. Transfer and transport costs on itinerary are not included but can be quoted on request. The cost of the mini-bus transfer from and to the Faggio of St. Francis for those who prefer not to walk, is included up to a maximum of ¼ of total participants.
The Pilgrim’s Kit
Every participant will be presented with the Pilgrim’s Kit (in collaboration with the Tourist Promotion Dept. of Rieti). The kit includes a map of the various trails of the Way and other tourist information. As a further seal of approval on this truly enthralling experience there is a Passport, an official document that certifies to the participants presence along the trails of St. Francis. It is distributed by Mestiere di Viaggiare and should be stamped on the visits to the four sanctuaries (Fonte Colombo, Greccio, La Foresta and Poggio Bustone.) On completion, the “Pilgrims Certificate” is awarded.
The Stages./The Routes
Morro Reatino - La Foresta ( 23 km)
By coach to Morro Reatino (750mt above sea level). From here climbing 2 km. to reach the Faggio(The beechwood) of St. Francis (height 1080m – for those unable to make this climb and the following one, there is a mini bus available) On for another 8 km.( 5, if short cut is taken) as far as the Sanctuary of Poggio Bustone (820mt.) where we meet our coach. From here it’s necessary to make a diversion of approximately 2 km. in order to visit the Sacred Grotto (also known as theUpper Hermitage at 1050m and not reachable by motorised vehicles). Another 8 km. descending at first, almost to the foot of the mountain, then some undulating terrain until we arrive atCantalice (710m max.) to meet our coach. A final descending stretch of 4km. to the Sanctaury ofSan Felice all’Acqua as far as the lower valley, to then climb to the Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Foresta (520m)- our arrival point. Back on the coach and return to hotel.
Rieti-Greccio (23km)
Departure from the hotel or if preferred from the Cathedral of Rieti (405m above sea level). The coach is available from departure and in all the following mentioned locations. After the first stretch of level land, about 4 km, we reach Località Macelletto where the 2km climb through the woods leads to the Sanctuary of Fonte Colombo (550m). Carrying on then for about 2 km we reach the town of S.Elia (705km), to then descend after about 3.5km through the woods toPiani di Poggio Fidoni (390m). Another 4 km in order to reach Contigliano an ancient village lying at a height of 490mt. Once passed the rural outskirts of the village, we penetrate the woods to climb towards the village of Greccio(735m) just 5.5 km away. The last 2 km (or a longer diversion passing through the Cappelletta 1200m) to reach the Sanctuary of Greccio (640m). Return by coach to hotel.
