The Forest of The Canticle of All Creatures
La Foresta Sanctuary"Then came the saintly man and shunning the pomp of the world and conversation of men…"

Anonymous of Rieti. Actus Beati Francisci in Valle Reatina, VII, 35. Edited by A. Cadderi, Assisi, Edizioni

Today, the small Church of San Fabiano is a convent of extraordinary beauty. It is also known as the Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Foresta or more simply, La Foresta. Those who seek peace or like Saint Francis want to run away from the “pomp of the world” will find this secluded place the ideal spot. Saint Francis arrived in September 1225. Immersed in lush green woods and cradled by the sounds of natural springs, the Ragged Saint probably wrote the immortal Canticle of All Creatures.

I want to thank all those people who helped us in moments of crisis (directions and advice), Mrs. Annamaria (from Greccio), all the ...”freccia
