Saint Francis Beech Tree - Rivodutri The Beech Tree is famous for the remarkable way its branches intertwine and create gnarls of unusual beauty. Legend narrates that the tree stretched out its branches to shelter Saint Francis from a thunderstorm that caught him by surprise during a solitary mystical retreat. By travelling along a secluded path, one of the many Franciscan paths that wind through the centuries-old woods, you will reach the Beech Tree, a miracle of nature, a monument that was founded over two centuries ago. There are only two other examples of the same species with a similar shape in the world.
