Work has begun to renew the sign system along the Saint Francis Walk

Detail of the map of the walkPilgrims arriving for the spring season in the Sacred Valley from all over the world will be welcomed by an added surprise while making the pilgrimage dedicated to the Saint of ecology.

Starting this spring, it will be easier to follow directions and take the right route along the Saint Francis Walk. This step has been made possible thanks to the newly founded private consortium, ‘Nei luoghi di Francesco’. The consortium is renovating the sign system and markings along the paths of the Walk.

The private consortium – that combines mountain bike rentals, horse rentals, accommodation facilities, restaurants, pottery producers, etc. – is currently seeing to the increase in markings along the paths with the inclusion of new yellow arrows in addition to the wooden signposts that have been damaged by the weather.

The intervention was necessary for two reasons. The first being simply that many wooden signposts have been damaged in time; the second comes directly from invaluable suggestions made by pilgrims who have made the Walk. Pilgrims have pointed out the places where they had difficulties following the paths due to the lack of proper markings.

We wish to remind pilgrims that before beginning the Walk they should always visit the Ufficio Centrale del Cammino di Francesco (the Main offices of the Saint Francis Walk) at the Rieti Tourist Board in via Cintia, 87 Rieti zip 02100.
Here, in addition to the Pilgrim’s passport, visitors will also find the Map of the Paths of the Saint Francis Walk.
