CBS Promotes the "Saint Francis Walk" in the USA
26/05/2006  Michele Gillen, of CBS 4, Miami, Florida, broadcast nationally on CBS NEWS, reported a seven-minute special on Saint Francis specifically dedicated to the Sacred Valley in Rieti and the Saint Francis Walk called "Secrets of a Saint".
The report took an in-depth view of our territory which was very much loved by Saint Francis but obscured by the fame and popularity of Assisi.
The televised special was realized by chief investigative reporter Michele Gillen who is the recipient of 23 Emmy Awards and who was the first American journalist to interview the Libyan leader, Gheddafi, and the ex dictator of Haiti, Jean Claude Duvalier. She also produced an investigative report on international trafficking of women and modern slavery.
Gillen was invited to Rieti by the Director of the Rieti Tourist Board, Diego Di Paolo, and was struck by the beauty of this sacred area. She took part of the “Saint Francis Walk” and decided to promote it in the USA.
The reportage includes beautiful photography of the area shot in winter integrated with images taken from the DVD, “The Saint Francis Walk”, produced by Lallaria for the Rieti Tourist Board.
The interest generated by the special led to a radio interview of the journalist for the CBS affiliated radio station.

At the same time good news arrived from the paths of the Saint Francis Walk: the sanctuaries and residents reported a noticeable rise in visitors and “walkers” during the spring months.
The Commissioner of the Rieti Tourist Board and the President of the Province, Fabio Melilli, expressed his satisfaction on the positive results of the Saint Francis Walk that go far beyond initial expectations. During the development stages of the project, the high increase was foreseen for 2007 and the fact that the goals predicted for a three-year period were reached a year in advance only goes to prove that the plans to develop and enlarge the Walk in the upcoming year will guarantee its definitive international appeal.
